Workshop at Cutting Edge Festival: 26 Sept 2017: Renewing Norwegian Industry

SIRIUS is organising a workshop at the Cutting Edge festival on Tuesday 26th September 2017. The theme is “Renewing Norwegian Industry”.

The workshop is open to all conference participants at Cutting Edge. Register here: http://cuttingedgefestival.no/tickets/.

Theme and background

The oil price shock in 2014 has radically changed the outlook and challenges for Norwegian industry. We should change the way we work so that the existing oil and gas clusters can maintain skills and competitiveness. We also need to transfer the world-class skills and tools in the oil and gas sector to build new businesses in healthcare, environmental technology and high-technology. This workshop will explore how digitalization and transformed work practices can bring about these changes.

We will present perspectives on how digitalization can be made to work in industrial contexts and have an open discussion on how large industrial firms, SMEs and academics can work together to ensure that digitalization delivers what it promises.

This workshop will also include the launch of the SIRIUS Innovation Forum. This forum aims to provide a meeting place for researchers and practitioners of digital industry. It is run by the SIRIUS Centre for Scalable Data Access in the Oil and Gas Domain.
